Recently, Ford has rolled out a series of new and innovative technologies. We have mentioned several of them previously on our blog but even here at Jim Tidwell Ford we have a difficult time keeping track of what is what. That is why we would like to give you a rundown of our favorites from new Ford bundle of tech goodies.

A few weeks ago we created a blog post about the Ford Fiesta ST making its way to US markets. While the arrival of this supercharged sub-compact is highly anticipated, we can't let it overshadow the coming 2014 Ford Fiesta which has been causing quite a stir since the Los Angeles Auto Show.

The new Fiesta was unveiled in LA, and is being hailed as a major breakthrough in the subcompact category. Mark Fields?

For a cutting edge auto maker like Ford, incorporating V2V (Vehicle-to-Vehicle) technology into its new Ford lineup was just the next step in progression. V2V technologies are being created to reduce the risk of accidents by channeling live traffic information and safety warnings through wireless devices and roadside stations.

Hybrid drivetrain? Check. Aerodynamic body styling? Check. EcoBoost engines? Done and done. What else can Ford possibly do to boost the fuel-efficiency of their lineup without sacrificing performance and driveability? It looks like the American automaker is turning to lightweight carbon fiber, which has long been used to enhance vehicle performance. This time around, however, Ford is employing it in the name of efficiency.

Five times strong than steel and one-third the weight, when used...

Here's a conundrum: how does an automaker continue to provide consumers with hard-working, dependable pickup trucks when it's becoming more and more clear that boosting the fuel-efficiency of their entire lineup is a necessity? More than that - it's become a law. As far as Ford is concerned, that means a slow and steady race to 2025, when their entire lineup must average an EPA-estimated 54.5 mpg.

The 2013 Ford Escape is set to roll into Jim Tidwell Ford shortly, and with it, a new piece of exciting technology. It's the hands-free liftgate, which works when the driver kicks their foot under the rear bumper of the vehicle. As long as the key-fob is in the pocket (or purse) of the person who wants to open the rear door, the latch will release and the door will gently swing open.
